These ruby red pomegranate cocktails turn any gathering into a celebration, from the sweet-tart margarita to the bubbly mimosa. They’re easy to make and full of bold flavor.

The first time I experimented with pomegranate juice in cocktails, I was blown away by how perfectly it balanced sweet and tart flavors. Whether you’re using store-bought 100% juice or squeezing your own with fresh arils, pomegranate brings a brightness to mixed drinks that’s hard to match.
As a cocktail expert and certified mixologist, I’ve found that pomegranate juice works beautifully in classic cocktails. Add it to a Margarita and it’s the perfect balance to tequila and lime! Even the classic Mimosa is better with a bit of vibrant juice! The recipes below are ones I return to again and again.
My top pomegranate cocktails
Here's where fresh mint and pomegranate collide in the most delightful way. This mojito is one of my go-to recipes when I'm entertaining because I can mix up a large pitcher ahead of time (minus the soda water), then just top each glass with bubbles right before serving.
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, rum, lime juice, sugar, mint, soda water
One of my favorite pomegranate cocktails is a margarita. The combination of sweet-tart pomegranate, tequila, and fresh lime creates this perfect balance that makes me understand why margaritas are so universally loved. The orange perfume from Cointreau adds another layer of complexity that ties everything together.
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, simple syrup
Here’s an impressive pomegranate cocktail: this Pomegranate Gin Fizz! The Gin Fizz is one of my favorite classic cocktails: sweet tart and refreshing, with a festive egg white foam. Take it over the top with this pomegranate spin: it elevates the sweet tart flavor and gives the drink a brilliant jewel-toned color!
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white, soda water
Looking for a fun pomegranate cocktail as a signature drink for your next gathering? Try a Pomegranate Martini! Crisp, sweet tart, fruity, and light: it’s closer to a Cosmo than the classic martini. It's a vodka martini made using pomegranate juice instead.
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, vodka, lemon juice, Cointreau, simple syrup
Everything really is better with bubbles, and this pomegranate mimosa proves it. I like making these for brunch gatherings because the combination of sweet-tart pomegranate, bright orange juice, and sparkling wine feels both celebratory and refreshing. During evening gatherings, I sometimes call this a Pomegranate Sparkler instead!
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, orange, Prosecco or champagne
This pomegranate punch is vibrant and tastes irresistibly light and fruity! Pomegranate juice and citrus make magic in this drink that’s perfect for serving a crowd.
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, lemons, oranges, soda water, maple syrup, bourbon, brandy or rum
Having tested both the classic Cosmopolitan and this pomegranate variation, I might actually prefer this version. The pomegranate adds a depth that makes the drink feel more sophisticated, while still maintaining that approachable vibe that made cosmos famous.
Ingredients: Pomegranate juice, vodka, lemon juice, Cointreau, simple syrup
Choosing your pomegranate juice
Each of these pomegranate cocktails is versatile: you can use bottled juice from the store, or pomegranate seeds to make your own juice! Here are a few things to note before you shop:
- Try to find 100% juice. Pomegranate juice is sold sweetened and unsweetened. Try to find the 100% juice version! It tastes better and all our drinks are customized to this type of juice.
- Even better, make your own! Pomegranate juice is easy to make from the fresh seeds: you’ll just need to mash them with a cocktail muddler and then strain out the juice. Head to How to Cut a Pomegranate and How to Make Pomegranate Juice.
Serving suggestions for pomegranate cocktails
These pomegranate cocktails work beautifully in various settings and pair well with different types of food. If it’s a holiday party, the Pomegranate Gin Fizz is the perfect drink!
For brunch gatherings, the Pomegranate Mimosa is obviously great alongside breakfast recipes like smoked salmon toast or egg dishes.
During cocktail hour, the Pomegranate Margarita pairs with Mexican-style appetizers and finger foods. I often serve it alongside chips with restaurant-style salsa or guacamole. The Pomegranate Cosmo and Pomegranate Martini are great for more formal gatherings and work beautifully with cheese boards or an antipasto platter.
For dinner parties, I find the Pomegranate Mojito is versatile and complements everything from grilled meats to seafood to vegetarian mains.
