Looking for frozen fruit smoothie recipes? You can make smoothies with any fruit imaginable, from strawberry to dragon fruit. But I’ve found that just throwing together a smoothie without a recipe often makes something too thick, too watery, or just bland.

I’ve spent years testing fruit smoothie recipes with every combination I could dream up. Here are all my favorite healthy fruit smoothie recipes that have been tried and tested by me and Alex (and our kids)! Each one follows a basic formula, but I’ve customized each to optimize the flavor for each fruit.

Tips for the Best Smoothies

Through trial and error, I’ve learned a few tips for making smoothies. First, start by adding liquid to your blender first: this prevents the blades from jamming on frozen fruit. I’ve learned this the hard way many times!

For the creamiest texture, I like to use Greek yogurt because it adds a nice body as well as protein to keep you full. If you want a vegan smoothie, banana is best for achieving the creamy base.

Don’t forget about my energy smoothie recipes if you need extra protein and nutrients. I often add a tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flaxseed for omega-3s and fiber.
